Introduction to Wind Turbines

Course Content

This course duration can be half a day or a full day based on clients needs.

This course is aimed at new entrants into wind turbines, particularly apprentices.

The course covers the following areas;

  • Wind turbine components
  • The function of key components
  • Maintenance aspects of the wind turbine
The areas can be covered in two ways dependent on the audience;
  1. By tutor presentations – traditional talk and chalk
  2. By candidate participation – candidates are given an initial overview of the topic via a tutor presentation then they are split into groups to use the information provided; any company information that candidates have legitimate access to; internet; to develop presentations covering the following topics;
  • What does pitch control do; explain active pitch control
  • Types of gearboxes used; gearbox inspection
  • Control system basics; types of generator used
